TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY CELINE SERRAT

(FILES) This photo taken on January 17, 2014, shows an activist writing "GMO danger" on a container after anti-GMO activists entered into a production site of US agro-chemicals giant Monsanto to protest against the use of GMO crops and ask for the extension of the moratory on 'MON810' corn, in Trebes, southern France. A legal battle concerning the cultivation of genetically mofidied corn is underway in France between those who support and those opposed to the growing of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), with the French Senate considering a request to ban the planting of genetically modified corn, on February 17, 2014. Final decisions about the cultivation of GMOs are currently being taken at the European Union level, however France aims to 're-nationalise' procedures to authorise or ban the growing of GMOs in the country, according to a statement released by the French Minister of Agriculture on February 17.
