NETHERLANDS-RACISM-TRADITION-SOCIAL-ZWARTE PIET-FILES

(FILES) -- A file picture taken on October 22, 2013 in Soest shows a woman with her face painted to become Zwarte Piet (Black Pete), the companion of Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) in Dutch tradition, and whose yearly feast is celebrated on the evening of December 5. A court in Amsterdam said on July 3, 2014 that Zwarte Piet is a "negative stereotype of people with black skin" ordering the mayor of Amsterdam to reconsider its position on this festive event destined to children.
