The Indian economy, which is still considered as an agriculture economy, is dependent on the amount of monsoon rains as a large part of the agricultural produce comes from the monsoon fed crops. India received nearly 35 percent below average rain fall since the start of monsoon season (June to September) and due to this the rice planting is 18 percent lower compared to the same period 2013, according to official sources.
