Iraqi Shiite militia fighters fire a rocket at Islamic State (IS) militant positions in Sayed Hassan village outside the city of Tikrit on September 3, 2014, on the road between Amerli and Tikrit. Amerli was besieged when IS-led militants launched a major offensive in June, overrunning chunks of five Iraqi provinces and sweeping security forces aside, though security forces have now begun to claw back some ground.
