(FILES) This 11 January, 2002 file photo shows a Lincoln LS driving past Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford Motor Co. announced 20 July, 2004 that its second-quarter profit more than doubled, topping estimates, as strength in its finance arm offset weak auto sales. The second-largest US automaker also raised its full-year earnings estimate for the third time this year, by 15 cents to 1.80 to 1.90 USD per share. The increased earnings came even as Ford-s market share in the United States fell by 1.2 percentage points in the second quarter and its US sales dropped by 5 percent. Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford reported net income rose to 1.2 billion USD, or 57 cents a share, from 417 million USD, or 22 cents a share, a year earlier. AFP PHOTO/FILES/Jeff KOWALSKY
