SPACE-SUNSPOTS
This 21 July, 2004 NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) image reveals several huge sunspots on the Sun. A 20 July coronal mass ejection (CME) is heading toward Earth, and it could spark a geomagnetic storm when it arrives probably after nightfall 22 July. Giant sunspot 652 (upper-L) has beta-gamma-delta magnetic fields that harbor energy for X-class solar flares, major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms.
