Salvaged Artifacts Auction
In this Tuesday, March 10, 2015 photo, Gil Shapiro, founder of Urban Archeology, poses next to a Reed & Stern train station clock at his Manhattan store in New York. The clock was installed about 1900 in the Union Station train depot in Troy, N.Y. Shapiro's former salvage company that years ago switched to the manufacture of tile, lighting and bathroom accessories based on iconic designs, is auctioning off approximately 6,000 artifacts saved from destruction, nearly its entire salvage inventory.
