BELGIUM-BLAST
Workers of Fluxys clean, 02 August 2004, a section of the undamaged gas pipeline after a part of it was ruptured and exploded at the industrial estate of Ghislenghien, near Ath, 30 July. 17 people were killed and 132 injured in the blast. According to the public prosecutor at Tournai it will take several months to determine the cause of the blast. An inquiry will have to decide whether or not a problem with the pipeline itself, such as corrosion or a faulty weld, was responsible or whether external factors were involved..
