IRAQ-US-UNREST-SADR

This video grab from the Dubai-based al-Arabiya satellite channel shows radical Shiite Muslim cleric Moqtada Sadr with his hand bandaged addressing his militiamen inside the shrine of Imam Ali in the holy city of Najaf late 13 August 2004. A ceasefire was in place in Najaf to allow for peace talks between Shiite militiamen and US troops after nine days of clashes, a spokesman for rebel leader Moqtada Sadr said 13 August. Thousands of Iraqis loyal to Sadr were at the gates of the city 14 August, many of whom arrived in buses and were led by Sheikh Hazem al-Araji, a senior Sadr aide in Baghdad, who had urged people during Friday-s weekly prayer to march to Najaf in protest against the US assault.
