US-WEATHER-HURRICANE IVAN
This NASA Aqua Satellite handout photo received 14 September 2004, shows Hurricane Ivan off the coast of Cuba late 13 September. Hurricane Ivan sliced through the western tip of Cuba late 13 September, tearing off roofs, triggering mudslides and began hurtling in the Gulf of Mexico toward the US coast after killing at least 71 in the Caribbean. Ivan-s eye late 13 September, made a brief landfall at Cape San Antonio, 350 kilometers (220 miles) west of Havana, as the rest of the storm took about three hours to cross western, said Cuba-s Meteorological Institute. At 0900 GMT Tuesday, the Miami-based US National Hurricane Center said the storm was moving into the Gulf of Mexico, 135 kilometers (85 miles) northewest of the western tip of Cuba and that a hurricane watch had been issued for the Northern Gulf coast of the United States.
