ITALY-POPE-AUDIENCE-HAITI
Pope John Paul II blesses a police woman during a special audience for Italian prison guards in the courtyard of his summer residence of Castelgandolfo 27 September 2004. The pontiff has donated 100,000 dollars (82,000 euros) to the victims of hurricane Jeanne in Haiti, the Vatican announced 27 September 2004. The sum was sent by the Vatican-s Pontifical Council Cor Unum, or One Heart, and is to be distributed by Haiti-s bishops and the Catholic humanitarian organization, Caritas.
