EU-SLO-COMMISSION-HEARINGS-POTOCNIK
New incoming European commissioner for Science and Research Slovenian Janez Potocnik (R) faces the press, prior to his hearing at the European Parliament, 01 October 2004 in Brussels. The European Union-s incoming communications chief vowed Thursday to shake up the bloc-s faded image, hit by mounting apathy and euroskepticism, but denied she would be simply the EU-s new head spin doctor. Margot Wallstroem, addressing a confirmation hearing at the European Parliament, also vowed to play a crucial role in fighting for the ratification of a new EU constitution in upcoming referenda.
