EU-SLO-COMMISSION-HEARINGS-POTOCNIK
New incoming European commissioner for Science and Research Slovenian Janez Potocnik gives a speech at the start of his hearing at the European Parliament, 01 October 2004 in Brussels. The European Union-s incoming communications chief vowed Thursday to shake up the bloc-s faded image, hit by mounting apathy and euroskepticism, but denied she would be simply the EU-s new head spin doctor. Margot Wallstroem, addressing a confirmation hearing at the European Parliament, also vowed to play a crucial role in fighting for the ratification of a new EU constitution in upcoming referenda.
