US President George W. Bush waves to the crowd as he walks in to a Bush-Cheney campaign rally 19 October 2004 inside Progress Energy Park-Al Lang Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the first of the day-s three campaign stops in the key state. Bush said that Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry could not be trusted to wage the global war on terrorism, and that "my opponent is not prepared and equipped to be the commander in chief." Bush also countered attacks by Kerry, denying he would bring back a military draft, insisting that the government was doing all it could to narrow a flu vaccine shortage, and pledging not to drill for oil off Florida-s coast.
