MACEDONIA-USA-GREECE-NAME
Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski (R, front), Prime Minister Hari Kostov (C), Foreign Minister Ilinka Mitreva (R, top) and Parliament speaker Ljupco Jordanovski (L) gather in the parliament after the United States decided to recognize Macedonia under its constitutional name -- Macedonia --04 November 2004. Macedonia is recognized at the United Nations the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia after Greece objected to the use of the name "Macedonia," which Greece claims for its northern province. Fourteen years after Macedonia declared independence from the former Yugoslavia, only a number of countries like Turkey and Bulgaria recognize it as the Republic of Macedonia.
