IRAQ-RELIGION-SABEAN-MANDEAN
Sitting under blue colored hording and dressed in five pieces of fine white cloth, Iraqi Sabean women and men hold up their right arm after washing it in the moving waters of the Tigris River as part of a cleansing ritual in Baghdad on May 21, 2009. This ancient religion follows the teachings of St. John the Baptist with moving water a focal point to all their rituals. Also known as Mandeans they consider the prophet Abraham as one of the founders of their faith. AFP PHOTO / AHMAD AL-RUBAYE
