SPACE-CURRENT SOLAR IMAGE
This 24 June, 2004 NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) image shows Sunspot 635 (lower right) with a twisted "beta-gamma-delta" magnetic field that harbors energy for X-class solar flares. X-class flares are big; they are major events that can trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. AFP PHOTO/NASA
